Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies have booked 20 year old Corina Perez of Fresno into the Fresno County Jail. She faces a felony charge of evading a peace officer. Her bail is set at $110,000. Deputies also arrested and booked 18 year old Angel Galvez of Fresno. He faces felony charges of illegal possession of a rifle and a large capacity magazine. His bail is set at $60,000.
Shortly after 2:00 am on Sunday, a Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Malibu in the area of Dakota and Clovis Avenues in Fresno. The driver, Corina Perez, began to slow and pull over. As the deputy approached closer, she suddenly sped away. A pursuit was initiated and deputies witnessed Perez flee onto westbound Highway 180 at 110 mph. As Perez took the Chestnut Ave. off-ramp, she crashed and rolled the car over the side of the ramp, up against a brick wall. The deputy and California Highway Patrol officers surrounded the wrecked car and took Perez and her passenger Angel Galvez into custody as they crawled out of the car. Both suffered minor injuries. They were taken to the hospital for treatment before being booked into jail.
During a search of the car, deputies found a loaded (Norinco SKS) AK-47 style rifle. Also recovered was a 30 round ammunition magazine.
