At 7:30 am on Friday, a 15 year old Washington Union High School student was walking along Cherry Ave., near Clayton Ave. on his way to the bus stop.
Suddenly, a car pulled up next to him and three people got out to confront the student. One of the suspects, a young man, pointed a gun at the student and they demanded he hand over his belongings. The boy gave them his wallet, cell phone and backpack containing his baseball gear. The suspects then took off in their car, northbound on Cherry Ave. toward American Ave. A motorist passing by stopped to check on the boy and dialed 911 for him. Deputies responded to the scene.
A short time later, another Washington Union student walking along American Ave. found a backpack with baseball gear lying on the side of the road. He picked it up and turned it in at the office of his school. The victim’s wallet and cell phone were not inside the backpack.
The following is a description of the suspects and their vehicle.
Suspect #1: - Hispanic male, 15 - 18 years old
- 5’6” with a medium build and short black hair
- Wearing black pants and a black t-shirt with the words “California Republic” written on the front and armed with a handgun. He had a piercing near his right eye brow.
Suspect #2: - Hispanic male or female, 15 – 18 years old
- 5’7” with a medium build and black hair
- Wearing dark clothing
Suspect #3: - Hispanic male or female, 19 – 21 years old
- Wearing dark, baggy clothing
Suspect’s Car: - 4-door green car similar to an early 2000s model Honda Civic
- The rear bumper has a distinct gray mark or patch
