6/3/16 - Property crimes detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office need the public’s help to locate 19 year old Cody Mathers.
He is known to stay in the Dinuba and Fresno areas. Mathers is wanted for robbery. Security cameras captured several angles of his crime.
On May 31st at around 6:30 pm, Mathers walked into Lee’s Market located at 14942 S. Highland Ave. in Selma. He headed to the beverage coolers located in the back of the business and removed two 12 packs of Corona beer. As he walked toward the counter, he ducked down to avoid crossing paths with an employee. When the clerk asked to help Mathers at the counter, Mathers walked out the door without paying. Two employees hopped over the counter and chased Mathers through the parking lot. Mathers ran toward a pickup truck, which had a driver waiting to help him get away. As Mathers tossed the beer in the back of a pickup, a store employee grabbed him and threw him to the ground. Mathers got up and dove through the open passenger side window of the pickup. Employees and some customers tried to stop him and the driver, but they ultimately got away.
During the struggle, one of the clerks suffered a cut to his hand. It’s possible Mathers used a sharp object to injure the victim during their fight.
Mathers drives a tan colored 2003 Chevrolet Silverado extended cab pickup. It has a California license plate of 8D51743. The driver of the truck is described as being a Hispanic man who is 5’10”, 200 lbs. with black hair and is clean shaven.
