Around 10:20 am on Friday, two men armed with handguns entered the “Joyeria Krystal” jewelry store located at 2215 W. Tahoe Ave. in Caruthers.

They tied up the woman who was working. One suspect held her at gunpoint while the other took jewelry from display cases and cash from a safe. The total value stolen is estimated to be tens of thousands of dollars. Both suspects left the store and got into a newer model black Mercedes Benz car with custom rims and a paper plate with the words “JS Auto Sales.” The car was being driven by a third suspect who did not enter the jewelry store.
At 10:35 am, the store employee was able to untie herself and call the Sheriff’s Office to report the robbery. She was not injured.
The suspects are described as being Hispanic men in their early 20s. They both partially covered their faces. One wore a hat and sunglasses and the other wore a hood and bandana.
The suspects also took the digital video recorder (DVR) from the business which was connected to its surveillance cameras. Detectives are asking the public to keep an eye out for the DVR. The suspects could have possibly discarded it on the side of a road, in a parking lot or in a trash can. If found, notify the Sheriff’s Office right away.
Detectives have interviewed the victim and collected video footage captured by other cameras located in the town of Caruthers. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Detective Darrel Olivas at (559) 600-8173 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867. You will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
This video shows the two robbery suspects get dropped off and they walk up the street toward the store. Cameras later capture the car driving out of town.
