Property crimes detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office need help identifying two women involved in check cashing schemes. It is possible they are working together.
On October 18th, 2019, a woman approached a teller window to cash a fraudulent check at United Security Bank, located at 13356 S. Henderson Ave. in Caruthers. She left after successfully getting cash.
On November 9th, a woman, believed to be the same one from the bank, entered the Shell gas station located at 3610 W. Mt. Whitney Ave. in Riverdale and cashed a check. She purchased some items and then left.
On November 11th, a different woman entered the same Shell gas in Riverdale and attempted to cash two checks. The clerk cashed the first check, but not the other because it appeared to be fake. The woman arrived and left in a Ford pickup truck, which was later determined to be stolen.
