Members of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit have identified the man shot and killed on Wednesday, August 1st. He is 29 year old Eric Colin of Coalinga.
Around 9:00 pm on Wednesday, Colin was walking near the area of Warthan Ave. and E Sacramento Ave. in the city of Coalinga. Someone fired gunshots in Colin’s direction, striking him several times. EMS responded and transported him to a hospital in Hanford where he passed away.
Coalinga Police requested the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office takeover the homicide investigation. Detectives and members of the Crime Scene Unit responded to interview witnesses and collect evidence.
Detectives are investigating the possibility of this being a gang-related shooting, but this motive has not yet been confirmed. No arrests have been made. This remains an ongoing investigation.
