On Friday, the Coroner’s Office positively identified human remains discovered near Pine Flat Lake as those of 81-year-old Zillabell Jane Friesen of Fresno.  The determination was made through dental records.  Family members of Friesen have been notified.

8/24/15- A forensic anthropologist will examine human bones found Sunday in the area of Trimmer Springs Road and Big Creek Road near Pine Flat Lake.  The anthropologist will analyze the bones to try and determine the person’s gender, age, race, height and weight.  A forensic pathologist will then try and determine a manner and cause of death.

On Sunday around 10:30 am, a fire crew contacted the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and reported they had discovered what appeared to be human remains.  Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and homicide detectives are now handling this investigation.

A 2006 Ford Escape was found in the area.  The vehicle is registered to Zillabell Jane Friesen of Fresno, who is an 81-year-old person reported missing on July 21st.
