Isaac Garcia

Crime scene technicians with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have identified the suspect who was shot and killed during a robbery attempt.  He is Isaac Garcia, 17, of Fresno.

Homicide detectives continue to try and find Garcia’s partner who was involved in the attempted robbery.  He is described as being a Hispanic man in his late teens to early 20s.  He is approximately 5’8” – 5’10” and 170 – 190 lbs.  He may be armed, so the public should not approach him.  Instead, call law enforcement immediately.

Around 10:50 pm on Tuesday, Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received an emergency call of shots being fired inside the Jiffy Food Stop store located at 5851 S. Elm Ave. in Easton.  Responding deputies learned that Isaac Garcia and another man attempted to rob the store.  As soon as the suspects opened the door, they pointed guns at the employee and demanded money.  The clerk, who was helping other customers at the time, drew his handgun which he was carrying on him.  One of the suspects fired at the clerk, missing him.  The clerk, who remained behind the counter, returned fire and struck Garcia as he and his partner ran out of the store.  No employees or customers were injured.

While securing the area around the store, deputies found Garcia outside on the ground.  He was pronounced deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.  Deputies recovered a gun near Garcia’s body.

Detectives are asking for help from the public to catch the outstanding suspect.  They would like to hear from anyone who was around the store during this shooting or may have since heard conversations about it.
