Jose Cura

Property crimes detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested and booked Jose Cura into the Fresno County Jail.  The 39 year old Selma man faces felony charges of robbery and evading a peace officer.  His bail has been set at $155,000.

Just before 11:30 am on Tuesday, a FSO property crimes sergeant was in the area of Hanford Armona Road and 12th Avenue in Hanford. He was following up on a Valley Crime Stoppers tip involving robbery suspect Jose Cura. The deputy sergeant later saw Cura drive past him in a vehicle. After noticing the sergeant, Cura immediately drove away at a high rate of speed and a pursuit ensued. Cura lead deputies on a chase through Kings County where he drove at speeds up to 100 mph. An FSO deputy setup spike strips and Cura ran them over, disabling his car near Highway 43 and Clarkson in Fresno County. After Cura pulled over, deputies took him into custody without incident. The entire pursuit traveled approximately 20 miles and lasted 20 minutes.

Cura is a suspect in a robbery at the EZ Mart at Fowler and Floral in Selma, which occurred on November 12, 2016.  Cura was also wanted on a no bail parole warrant.

Anyone with additional information on Jose Cura is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (559) 600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP(7867).  All tips will remain anonymous and you may be eligible for a cash reward.
