Deputies working with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol Unit have arrested three shoplifting suspects.
They are 43 year old Denette Gladney, 35 year old Danielle Battles and 33 year old Tino Kittrell. All are from Fresno. Deputies cited and released the suspects at the scene. Under the guidelines of Proposition 47, their charges of shoplifting are misdemeanors due to the fact that the stolen items had a value of less than $950.
On August 25th, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shoplifting incident that had taken place at the Dollar General store in Laton. A deputy responded to the store and received a description of the suspects and the vehicle they were driving. The information was relayed to all other deputies patrolling the area.
A short time later, Deputies Christian Lightner and Todd Talent, who were working as part of the Mounted Patrol Unit, saw an SUV matching the suspects’ vehicle in the parking lot of the Dollar General store in Riverdale. Deputy Lightner, riding Justice and Deputy Talent, riding Sunny, approached the vehicle just as the suspects were getting inside of it. As they tried to back out, the deputies used their horses to block the SUV from being able to drive any further. Deputies were able to get all three people out of the vehicle and detained them. Inside the SUV, deputies found items that had been stolen from the Laton store. This included such items as: Bed sheets, air fresheners, laundry detergent, fabric softener and trash bags. Deputies learned that the suspects had planned to try and steal items from the Riverdale store as well. All of the recovered items were returned to the Dollar General store in Laton.
