Christina ValenzuelaFresno County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested 28-year-old Christina Valenzuela, a transient currently staying in Fresno.

At 10:15 am Monday, deputies were dispatched to the Mayfair District.  The property manager of a vacant home on the 3500 block of E. Weldon reported that Valenzuela had climbed onto the roof and was refusing to come down.  Valenzuela proceeded to grab an old 13 ft. TV antenna and throw it down at the property manager, hitting his leg.  Deputies arrived and found Valenzuela on the roof, lying on her stomach and saying words which were not making any sense.  Deputies attempted to talk Valenzuela into voluntarily coming down from the roof, but she refused and continued to speak gibberish.  Deputies called paramedics and firefighters to the scene and requested that they bring inflatable air bags and a truck with a basket.  After Valenzuela continued to refuse commands to come down, deputies got on top of the roof to try and reason with her.  Valenzuela remained on her stomach and as deputies approach her she became combative.  In an effort to detain her, she hit one deputy on his head.  During the struggle, another deputy received an injury to his hand.  One of the deputies used their Taser as a necessary means of force to gain control of Valenzuela.  Deputies quickly grabbed hold of her, placed her in handcuffs and removed her from the roof without further incident.

Valenzuela was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and placed in a psychiatric hold.  She is no stranger to law enforcement and will later be booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and violently resisting arrest.  The deputies involved received minor injuries and are expected to be ok.
