Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies have booked 36-year-old Randy Tran into the Fresno County Jail for possession of marijuana for sale and probation violation. Tran is from Lawndale, CA (Los Angeles area).
Around 6:30 pm Wednesday, a deputy patrolling the area of I-5 and Dorris Ave. in Coalinga conducted a vehicle stop near the Chevron gas station. During the deputy’s interaction with the driver, Randy Tran, he discovered Tran was carrying 10 lbs. of marijuana and $120,000 in cash.

Members of the Central Valley California High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) have identified I-5 as a major drug trafficking route in the United States. The nearly 1,400 mile long west coast freeway stretches from Canada to Mexico. It is well-known that criminals use I-5 to transport large amounts of methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine and heroin.
