Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 17 year old Anthony Chavez of San Joaquin. He has been booked into the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Campus on a charge of murder.
Around 8:30 pm on Tuesday, May 26th, 19 year old Yordy Urbieta of Tranquillity was shot and killed while in the area of Nevada and 6th Street in the City of San Joaquin. Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Unit technicians responded to collect evidence and interview potential witnesses. Detectives worked tirelessly throughout the week to develop leads. They eventually gathered information that showed this was a gang-related shooting and Anthony Chavez was responsible for shooting and killing Yordy Urbieta. Detectives found Chavez at a home in San Joaquin on Friday night and took him into custody.
The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank those citizens who relayed valuable information to detectives, which allowed them to quickly make an arrest. Their bravery helps to make this community a safer place to live.
