Property crimes detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 25 year old Francisco Gil of Fresno.
He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on a felony charge of carjacking. His bail is set at $75,000.
On Monday afternoon, a woman used her car to pick up her son, Francisco Gil. Gil is homeless and suffers from mental health issues. His mother wanted to feed him and get him cleaned up. She chose to drive him out of the city of Fresno to Winton Park, located near N. Piedra and Elwood Roads in Sanger. Once she arrived at the park, Gil punched her several times in the head, took her car keys and got out of the vehicle. The scared woman could not get a cell phone signal to call 911 for help, so she stayed seated in the car. Gil later got back into the car and made some disrespectful comments to his mom and then drove her back to her house and let her out. Gil then drove off in her 2014 Chevy Malibu, which he did not have permission to take. She then contacted the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and filed a criminal report.
On Tuesday, detectives were searching areas Gil is known to frequent and they found him in the Chevy Malibu at a Victoria Park located at W. Clinton and N. Brawley Avenues in Fresno. Detectives arrested him and later returned the car to his mother.
