Property crimes detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 37 year old Claudio Orozco of Selma.
He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on multiple felony counts of auto theft, burglary and possession of stolen property. His bail has been set at $140,000.
Wednesday night, a sergeant with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling the area of W. Clarkson and S. Temperance Avenues in Selma when he spotted a vehicle believed to be tied to a suspected serial burglar. As the sergeant approached the vehicle parked at a vacant home, he interrupted a burglary in progress being committed by the aforementioned serial burglar suspect, Claudio Orozco. Orozco ran and hid in a vineyard. Additional deputies, a K-9 unit and our EAGLE One helicopter responded to the area and established a perimeter. They eventually found Orozco and took him into custody.
Orozco is the same suspect who was shown in a video released to the public by the Sheriff’s Office earlier this month. This was the case from April 11th where a house was broken into on the 4500 block of E. Mountain View Ave. in Selma. A surveillance camera captured images of the suspect (Orozco) using a screwdriver to break out a window of the house.
Detectives believe Orozco is responsible more than a dozen auto thefts and burglaries at homes and businesses dating back to March 2018. Orozco is a known meth user who was likely committing these crimes to support his drug habit.
