Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 27 year old Brian Andrew Smith of Orange Cove.
On June 13th, he was booked into the Fresno County Jail on a murder charge. On June 14th, detectives presented their case to the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office and prosecutors accepted it and will be filing a murder charge against Smith.
Around 1:45 pm on June 8th, an ag worker discovered a man lying in a vineyard with visible injuries. He was located in the area of Mountain View Ave. and Bethel Ave. in Selma. Cal Fire firefighters were first to arrive to this emergency call and they determined the man was deceased.
Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives and members of its Crime Scene Unit responded to collect evidence for was later ruled to be a homicide.
The victim was later identified as 21 year old Steven Robinson of Orange Cove. An autopsy revealed injuries from gunshots.
The suspect and victim knew each other. A motive for the attack is not available for release due to this being an ongoing investigation.
