Fresno County Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating a homicide in the city of Mendota.
It occurred around 5:30 am Wednesday in the parking lot of Cecilia’s Restaurant, located at 2167 7th Street.
Mendota Police officers first arrived on scene and discovered 50-year-old, Jose Torres, shot to death. Witnesses told detectives three men were seen fleeing the area. An exact description of the possible suspects has not been given to detectives. The victim, Torres, works as a cook at the restaurant. Detectives are speaking with relatives to try and establish a motive and see if Torres has any known enemies.
Mendota Police requested that the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office take over this case due to its access to resources and expertise in homicide investigations.
