Members of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit have identified the homicide victim who was shot in the City of San Joaquin. He is 19 year old Yordy Urbieta of Tranquillity.
Around 8:30 pm on Tuesday, Fresno County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received multiple calls of shots fired near the intersection of Nevada and 6th Street in San Joaquin. Dispatchers received further information that a man had been struck and was lying in the street. Deputies arrived along with firefighters to provide medical aid. Once on scene, they encountered a raucous crowd of about 100 people who were not following orders to make room for first responders to do their jobs. Deputies eventually moved people back and firefighters administered CPR to the victim, Yordy Urbieta. After approximately 15 minutes performing life-saving measures, Urbieta was pronounced deceased.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Unit technicians responded to collect evidence and interview potential witnesses. Detectives still need more help from the public to identify a possible suspect or suspects.
