7/31/16 - Around 3:00 pm on Sunday, Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputies Doug Richardson and Todd Talent responded to the 32000 block of Lodge Road for an animal rescue. They were told that a dog was left behind during the evacuations of the Goose Fire. After several hours of searching, deputies found the dog who was covered in the red fire retardant that had been dropped by air tankers. The female dog named Kiya is an older Huskey who is nearly blind. She was not injured. Deputies loaded Kiya into their pickup truck and drove her to the small animal shelter located at Foothill Middle School where she was cleaned up and reunited with her owner.
