On September 28, 2020, leaders from within the County of Fresno and the Sheriff’s Office held a ceremony to break ground on a new Area Two Substation.

The facility will be located on 6.5 acre parcel of land along N. Armstrong Ave., between Belmont and E. Harvey Avenues.  It will feature 22,700 square feet of office space and a 35,500 square foot vehicle storage building.  This Area Two Substation will serve as the headquarters for all patrol operations in the metropolitan area.  The new facility will serve as a hub for patrol briefings, community meetings and a storage location for specialty unit vehicles and equipment that are deployed during emergency situations.  The new complex will replace the current Area Two Substation located on Shields Ave., just east of Clovis Ave.

The total cost of the project is estimated to be $14 million.  The county has awarded the construction contract to Klassen Corporation.  The estimated date of completion is August 2021.
