South Annex of Fresno County Jail

Members of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Homicide Unit and Fresno County District Attorney’s Office are conducting an investigation into the death of an inmate at the Fresno County Jail’s South Annex facility.

Shortly before 11:30 am on Thursday, during a routine cell check, a Fresno County Sheriff’s correctional officer found inmate, Manuel Servin Jr., unresponsive inside his individual cell.  Emergency personnel responded to aid Servin, but he was already deceased.  Preliminary results of the investigation show Servin hanged himself by tying some fabric to a table inside his cell.  Correctional officers had last checked on Servin an hour earlier, which is standard operating procedure.  Servin never exhibited any behavior on Thursday to show he was at risk of hurting himself.

On October 20, 2016, Fresno Police officers arrested and booked 32 year old Manuel Servin into the Fresno County Jail for the attempted murders of his then pregnant wife and unborn child.

This remains an ongoing investigation.
