On Saturday afternoon, 22 year old Fresno County Jail Inmate, John Mayberry of Fresno, died.
Mayberry was removed from a life support machine at Community Regional Medical Center after being a patient there since August 2nd. Homicide detectives are investigating this case.
Around 1:30 am on August 2nd, correctional officers were performing their hourly routine security checks when they found Mayberry injured inside his cell. Mayberry had tried to commit suicide by hanging himself. He was the only person in the cell at the time. An ambulance rushed Mayberry to the hospital for treatment. Throughout the week, his injuries proved to be too severe to overcome and on Saturday he passed away.
Mayberry had been in the Fresno County Jail since March 8, 2016 after being booked on charges associated with robbery.
