The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office has determined a positive identification of a woman found on April 4, 2017.
She is a 33 year old woman from the state of Virginia. Her name is not being released due to confidentiality restrictions. There is a possibility that the woman is a victim of a crime, so we must protect her privacy.
On Wednesday afternoon, detectives received a tip and spoke with a relative who lives out of the area. Detectives learned that the woman made travel arrangements and flew to Fresno last week. She was visiting to see if this is an area she may want to move to one day. Detectives continue to try and develop information about the woman and any contacts she made during her time in Fresno County. Arrangements are being made to reunite her with family / friends.
The following is background on how she was first discovered. Around 3:15 am on Tuesday, a motorist found the unidentified woman walking in the middle of Millerton Road, near the entrance to Millerton Lake just outside the town of Friant. Concerned for her safety, the motorist reported the woman to local law enforcement. She was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Detectives were unable to learn her name or find out who her family members are because she was not giving them clear answers when they ask her questions. She did not have a driver license or identification card on her either.
The Fresno Police Department initially started this investigation, but on Wednesday they turned it over to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office due to the jurisdiction in which she was found.
Anyone with additional information about this woman is asked to please contact the Sheriff’s Office at (559) 600-3111.
