Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested and booked Fernando Jimenez into the Fresno County Jail. The 32 year old homeless man faces a felony charge of burglary and a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. His bail has been set at $40,000.
Just before 12:30 pm on Saturday, January 7, deputies were called to a home on the 9500 block of W. Whitesbridge Ave. in Fresno for a report of a possible burglary in progress. Deputies arrived and found a broken window along with an unknown bicycle outside the house. FSO deputies and K-9 Kajo entered the house to search for a suspect. They made announcements of who they were in both English and Spanish, but did not get any response. Kajo found a bedroom door closed and alerted his handler that someone was in the room. A deputy opened the door and Kajo found a man hiding under a blanket on the bed. Kajo bit the man, Fernando Jimenez, on his leg. Jimenez, who was naked, came out from under the blanket and was holding a large kitchen knife. Kajo bit Jimenez’ wrist, which caused him to drop the knife. Deputies were then able to handcuff Jimenez. He was taken to the hospital for medical treatment and later booked into jail.
Deputies did not find any property had been taken from the home. However, Jimenez did get into the victim’s refrigerator. He cooked a meal and drank a bottle of wine.
