Julian Pacheco

Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 18 year old Julian Josue Pacheco of Fowler.

He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on felony charges of attempted murder and assault with a firearm. His bail has been set at $535,000.

Around 10:15 am on Tuesday, Fowler Police received a 911 call from a screaming woman who was on the 400 block of 4th Street.  When officers arrived on scene, they found a 21 year old woman who had been shot and a 17 year old woman with injuries from being pistol whipped.  Fowler’s police chief requested Fresno County Sheriff’s detectives take over the investigation.

Detectives learned that the victims and suspect knew each other.  There was a dispute over some possible stolen property.  Julian Pacheco and another man had gone to confront the victims about it at their residence on 4th St. in Fowler.  For some unknown reason, Pacheco pulled out a handgun and began firing at one of the victims.  One bullet struck a woman and Pacheco then pistol whipped the other woman.  Both men left the scene before officers arrived. Both women were taken to the hospital.  They were treated and released later in the day.

Detectives interviewed several witnesses and were able to identify Pacheco as the shooter.  Detectives spoke with his family members, who tried to get Pacheco to turn himself in.  Around 11:00 pm, detectives saw Pacheco arriving to his house on the 1500 block of Ruby Avenue in Fowler and they took him into custody.  Detectives determined the man who was with Pacheco during the shooting was not responsible for committing any crime.
