It is with great sadness that the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office announces the passing of K-9 Sony.
This nine year old German Shepherd spent the last eight years partnered with Deputy Isaac Cervantes.
While at work on Tuesday morning, Sony showed signs of illness. He was taken to Sierra View Animal Hospital where it was discovered that he had an unsuspected medical condition. He was laid to rest around 2:00 pm.
Sony was a senior K-9 and valuable part of the Sheriff’s Office during his time in service. He specialized in searching buildings and locating missing people. He was also a regular visitor to local schools. Sony was a great friend and partner who will be truly missed within the department and throughout the community. R.I.P. Sony.
The FSO is currently staffed with eight K-9 teams.
