On Saturday, May 30th, the inaugural “Vipers vs. Law Enforcement Officers Autocross for Charity” took place at the Fresno Fairgrounds.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol and Fresno Police Department all had officers participate.  Each agency provided two officers and two of its patrol vehicles.  The Central California Viper Owners Association also had approximately 14 individually owned Dodge Vipers participate in the races.  The Autocross was a short obstacle course. Each driver was timed as they completed a total of five laps.

The total purse was $2,000.  The CHP came in with the fastest time, followed by Fresno Police and the Fresno County Sheriff's Office.  The CHP claimed $1,000 to donate to a local charity of its choice.  Fresno PD and the FSO each collected $500 for their respective charities.  Viper owners were not eligible to win prizes.

The Central California Viper Owners Association is able to host and fund this event through donations made by its members and fundraisers conducted during the year.  The Viper Owners Association (VOA) is an international club for Dodge/SRT Viper owners with local affiliates in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan. The mission of VOA is simply to help Viper owners have a more enjoyable ownership experience. VOA provides its members with club activities (driving, social, and technical), a communication path to the manufacturer, technical information, and a community environment to share Viper passion with other owners.
