UPDATE 12/8/15: The victim has undergone surgery and is now listed in critical, but stable condition. Homicide detectives are in the process of interviewing him. This shooting does not appear to be a random act. During the investigation, detectives found some drugs inside the victim’s home, so there is a strong possibility that this made him a target.

Just before 6:30 Tuesday morning, a 50 year old man was shot in front of his home along the 5200 block of E. Madison Ave. in southeast Fresno.

The suspect walked up to the victim as he was taking in his trash cans off the street and told the victim to go inside his house with him. The victim refused, so the suspect shot him once in the torso. The suspect then ran away eastbound on Madison toward Bush Ave.

The victim was able to walk back into his house and call 911. An ambulance took him to CRMC and he is undergoing surgery. It’s unknown if his injuries are life threatening. It’s also unknown if the victim and suspect knew each other. Detectives hope to gain further information if and when they are able to interview the victim.

The suspect is described as being a Hispanic man in his 20s. He is 5’10”, 180 lbs. and was wearing a dark hooded jacket and dark colored pants.
