Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested Tammy Sue Corbin, 35, of Fresno.
She has been booked into the Fresno County Jail and faces a felony charge of animal cruelty. She faces misdemeanor charges for possessing a small amount of methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe. She had less than an ounce of marijuana on her, which is an infraction.
Around 5:30 pm on Thursday, deputies were dispatched to the 2700 block of S. Valentine Ave. in Fresno. A witness reported seeing a woman who appeared to be in her 50s, picking up her dog and slamming it into the ground. As deputies were in route, the witness saw Tammy Corbin swing the dog from its leash (made out of a belt) into several fences, telephone poles and palm trees. After colliding into an object, the dog would stay still on the ground. Corbin then dragged the dog to get it to walk again and then she would either punch the dog numerous times or swing it into another hard surface.
The first deputy on scene immediately detained Corbin. She told the deputy she was angry about having some of her property stolen and she took out her frustrations on her dog. Deputies searched Corbin and found her to be in possession of meth, a meth pipe and some marijuana.
A member of California Animal Control responded to the scene to examine the dog and take it to Fresno Humane Animal Services. Friday afternoon, employees at the shelter said the male dog is in good health and is doing well.
