The Fresno County Sheriff – Coroner’s Office has identified 61-year-old Adolfo Vasquez of Orange Cove as the victim who died as a result of being shot.
On Wednesday, July 15th at about 9:15 PM, the Orange Cove Police Department responded to a call of shots fired near a home on the 900 block of 8th Street. Officers on scene discovered Vasquez lying in a driveway with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Firefighters and paramedics initiated CPR, however, efforts to revive Vasquez were unsuccessful and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. OCPD requested the Fresno Sheriff’s Office take over the homicide investigation. Homicide detectives and the Crime Scene Unit arrived on scene and handled the incident.
No arrests have been made in this case. Detectives have interviewed witnesses, who gave varying statements regarding how many suspect(s) were involved and the direction in which they fled. The suspect(s) physical and clothing description is very limited at this time. It is unknown if the shooter(s) were on foot or in a car at the time the gun(s) were fired. Detectives continue to interview witnesses and are working to see if any surveillance cameras in the area captured images of the suspect(s).
