Around 12:00 pm on Wednesday, a Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a Chevy Tahoe, but the driver refused to pull over.
The driver, later identified as 35 year old Francisco Elenes, lead the deputy on a pursuit beginning at the intersection of Palm and Shields in Fresno. Elenes drove as fast as 90 mph, taking many different routes and speeding in the lanes of oncoming traffic. Elenes finally turned on Pontiac Way, west of Channing Ave. and drove his SUV onto someone’s front yard. Elenes got out and tried to run, but the deputies who had been pursuing him quickly took him into custody.
Elenes was found to be in possession of stolen property and drugs (meth). He will be booked into the Fresno County Jail on those charges, along with felony evading a peace officer. The SUV belongs to someone Elenes knows. It remains unclear if he stole it or borrowed it from the registered owner.
