Luis Abrams & Brittany OlsenThe Fresno County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Fresno man and woman on several felony charges after leading deputies on a high speed pursuit.

Arrested were 38-year-old Luis Francisco Abrams and 28-year-old Brittany Michelle Olsen.

The incident began just after midnight Tuesday morning when deputies spotted a reported stolen Toyota truck driving in the area of Butler & Cedar.  When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver, later identified as Abrams, failed to pull over and a pursuit ensued.

The pursuit reached speeds of 60-70 mph as it traveled through residential neighborhoods in southeast Fresno.  As the pursuit went on, an assisting deputy was able to deploy a spike strip at the intersection of Chestnut & Church.  Abrams eventually drove the vehicle over the strip, flattening the right front tire.  However, he still refused to pull over.

The pursuit continued to the area of Jensen & Martin Luther King Blvd where several Fresno PD and CHP units had the intersection blocked off.  As Abrams slowed the car, the driver door opened and it was apparent Abrams would try and flee on foot.  As the stolen vehicle came to a stop, Abrams was made aware, in no uncertain terms, that a Sheriff’s K-9 would be deployed to make his arrest.  Abrams exited the vehicle with his hands held high and both he and Olsen were taken into custody without further incident.

The investigation revealed the truck had been stolen the previous day from the 2000 block of N First St.  Deputies also found that Abrams was on state parole and Olsen on felony probation.

Inside the vehicle, deputies discovered burglary tools including bolt cutters, shaved car keys and a device to jam ignitions. They also discovered a stun gun, syringes and several suitcases which contained items related to identity theft and some counterfeit $100 bills.

As a result, Abrams was arrested charges of vehicle theft, felony evading, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, felon in possession of a stun gun, counterfeiting and parole violations.  Olsen was arrested on charges of vehicle theft, felon in possession of s stun gun and probation violations.  Both were later booked into the Fresno County Jail.
