Members of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit have identified the victim of a homicide that occurred in the City of Firebaugh. He is 20 year old Tyrel Truss of Fresno.
Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office have arrested four people for their role in Truss’ death. They each face a charge of murder and have a bail amount of $1 million each. They are:
- Isaac Helms, 18, of Sioux City, Iowa
- Precious Green, 19, of Sioux City, Iowa
- Hannah Haywood, 19, of Sioux City, Iowa
- Alexa Ramos, 20, of Firebaugh
On Thursday, September 26, Tyrel Truss drove to Mendota to meet a woman he had been communicating with on the internet. Once he arrived, the young woman introduced Truss to a group of her friends, which included a young man and two young women. The group asked if he could give them a ride to Firebaugh and Truss agreed. During the ride, shortly before 5:00 pm, an altercation took place inside the car. It ended with Isaac Helms shooting Truss, which caused his car to roll into a vehicle parked on Cardella Street in the City of Firebaugh. Helms, along with Precious Green, Hannah Haywood and Alexa Ramos got out of the car and attempted to run away. However, officers with the Firebaugh Police Department who were dispatched to the scene, were able to track down these four people and detain them for questioning. Officers found Truss in his car dead from an apparent gunshot wound. Firebaugh Police contacted the Sheriff’s Office and requested its homicide detectives take over the investigation. Detectives and members of the Crime Scene Unit responded to interview witnesses and collect evidence. During a search of the scene, a gun believed to be used in the crime was found. Additionally, one of the four people detained was found to be in possession of personal items belonging to Truss.
Detectives interviewed Helms, Green, Haywood and Ramos. Afterwards, they determined the group had setup the meeting with Truss in order to try and rob him. During an altercation, Helms fired a gun at Truss. Everyone was arrested for murder. The case is being submitted to the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office to review.
