On Wednesday, Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 38 year old Casy Weaver. He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail. He is facing felony charges of auto theft and possession of stolen property. His bail has been set at $23,500.
Earlier this month, deputies launched an investigation into the theft of a 1986 Toyota pickup off Musick Creek Road in Shaver Lake. Deputies eventually found the pickup abandoned in the Meadow Lakes area. They discovered some of the property inside of the vehicle was missing.
In an effort to find the person who stole the pickup, deputies worked with law enforcement officers of the U.S. Forest Service to track down a witness who told them of a home where the pickup had been parked prior to being found near Meadow Lakes.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol assisted detectives with the Help Eliminate Auto Theft (H.E.A.T.) team to serve a search warrant at that home near Auberry Road and Auberry Mission Road. Detectives contacted Weaver there and arrested him. A search of the home revealed items stolen from the Toyota pickup, along with a Yamaha mini-bike reported stolen from Wyoming back in 1992 and a stolen Fresno County street sign from “Loch” Lane in Shaver, which is where Weaver used to live. All items are in the process of being returned to their rightful owners.
While at the home, detectives contacted another man by the name of Spencer Budde. The 37 year old was found to have an active arrest warrant out of Montana for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Detectives arrested Budde and booked into the Fresno County Jail. He will remain there until arrangements are made to transport him back to the state of Montana.
