Fresno County Sheriff's Office Explorer Post 459 is currently recruiting.  If you are interested in a career in law enforcement, dispatch or corrections, this is a great opportunity!

Post 459 meets for two hours every Tuesday to train on different topics such as vehicle stops, searches, physical training, community policing and more.  Advisers will go over scenarios during classroom time and guest speakers will be invited in at times.

Our Explorers participate in different community events throughout the year.  These events consist of parking details, parades, fairs, job fairs, police funerals, annual Sheriff’s Office fundraisers and all other appropriate requests made during the year.

You will also get a chance to compete against other explorers throughout the western states.  Our teams have previously participated in competitions in Paso Robles, Riverside and Las Vegas.

To become an Explorer, you must submit an application.  Once we receive the application a background check will be conducted.  This background consists of contacting references, checking school records to ensure a GPA of 2.0 is maintained and a criminal background check.  You must be at least 14 years old to join and can stay in the program until you are 21.

Applications can be picked up in the lobby of Fresno Sheriff’s Office Headquarters.  It is located at 2200 Fresno Street, Fresno, 93721.

For more information, you may call (559) 600-8204.
