George Fang

On Friday, homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office arrested George Fang, 33, of Fresno.

He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail where he faces felony charges of attempted murder, as well as probation violation.  Fang is on Post Release Community Supervision, which is part of AB 109.

Shortly before 7:30 pm on Sunday (Feb. 21), Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of shots fired at a home on the 3100 block of S. Fig Ave. in Fresno.  Deputies found a 26 year old man who had been shot.  An ambulance rushed the victim to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.  He is now listed in stable condition.

A preliminary investigation shows that the victim was outside of the home talking with Fang, a man he knows.  Their conversation escalated into an argument and ended with Fang shooting the victim and then leaving in a vehicle. Detectives interviewed other people home at the time of the shooting and developed Fang’s name as a person of interest.  Later that night, Fresno Police contacted Fang during a separate call for service.  Officers contacted FSO detectives and they made contact with Fang about his possible connection to the shooting.
