Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies have booked Cochis Mancia, 38, of Fresno and Michael Swacker, 42, of Fresno into the Fresno County Jail.
Mancia faces felony charges of carrying a loaded gun, possession of stolen property, child endangerment and a misdemeanor for marijuana possession. Swacker was arrested for having an outstanding felony warrant. He is also on Post Release Community Supervision, which is part of AB109.
Just before 2:00 pm on Tuesday, a Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy, who is assigned to patrol the Old Fig Garden Neighborhood, made a traffic stop on a Toyota Tacoma pickup near Palm and Griffith Avenues in Fresno. Cochis Mancia was the driver and Michael Swacker a front seat passenger. Mancia’s four year old daughter was in the backseat.
The deputy searched the truck and found approximately one pound of marijuana, a bag of ammunition and a hunting rifle. The rifle, which was not loaded, was covered with a jacket and the child was sitting on half of the gun during the ride. A check of the rifle revealed it had been reported stolen. The deputy determined the close proximity of the ammunition to the gun posed a danger to the little girl. The child was not hurt and is now in the care of her grandmother.
Anyone with additional information about Cochis Mancia or Michael Swacker is asked to please contact the Sheriff’s Office dispatch at (559) 600-3111 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867). All tips will remain anonymous and you may be eligible for a cash reward.
