Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested 19 year old Andrew Garcia of Fresno. He is currently receiving medical treatment. After doing so, he will be booked into the Fresno County Jail for attempted murder.
Around 10:15 am Friday, a 911 call was made to Sheriff’s Office dispatchers requesting an ambulance at the intersection of Gettysburg and Minnewawa where there was an 18 year old Clovis woman suffering from a stab wound to her neck. On the way to the hospital, the victim’s relative stopped the car in this area after the bleeding got worse. The victim was taken to a local hosptial where she is listed in serious, but stable condition. Deputies who also responded to the call learned that the stabbing took place outside a home on the 5400 block of E. Sagniaw Ave. in Clovis. Deputies determined that Andrew Garcia was involved in a disturbance with his 18 year old girlfriend which ended with him stabbing her. Garcia ran from the area as the victim’s relative worked to get her professional medical help.

Deputies began to search the area for Garcia. At 11:15 am, they received information that a person matching Garcia’s description had arrived at Clovis Community Medical Center. It was in fact Garcia and he had a self-inflicted wound. After injuring himself, Garcia called a relative to pick him up and take him to the hospital. Detectives responded to the hospital and continue to investigate Garcia’s involvement in this crime.
