Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested Armando Fimbres, 26, of Fresno. He is being booked into the Fresno County Jail on a felony charge of burglary and a misdemeanor for possession of stolen property. Fimbres was released from prison two months ago and is currently under Post-Release Community Supervision, which is part of AB109.

The holiday season is in fact a time when thieves attempt to capitalize on people, ultimately spoiling their cheer. Increasingly, these crooks are using computers and telephone scams to try and take advantage of you. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office would like to offer some tips to folks in order to avoid becoming a victim.

Update 12/10/15: We are happy to announce that we’ve been contacted by family members of Anthony Herrera.
The Fresno County Sheriff - Coroner Office needs help locating family members or friends of Anthony Herrera. The 37-year-old is described as 5’10”, 180 lbs. with hazel eyes and brown hair. There is a tattoo on his chest with the name “Herrera” and a tattoo on his left arm with the name “Maria.”

UPDATE 12/8/15: The victim has undergone surgery and is now listed in critical, but stable condition. Homicide detectives are in the process of interviewing him. This shooting does not appear to be a random act. During the investigation, detectives found some drugs inside the victim’s home, so there is a strong possibility that this made him a target.
Just before 6:30 Tuesday morning, a 50 year old man was shot in front of his home along the 5200 block of E. Madison Ave. in southeast Fresno.

Fresno County Sheriff’s detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing “at-risk” man. Kenneth Wesson, 65, of Clovis has been missing since December 3rd.

Update Nov. 29, 2015: The Coroner's Office has identified the Huron burglary suspect as 19-year-old Cody Caldwell (DOB 05/04/1996). The cause of death was determined to be smoke inhalation and thermal burns.
Just before 3:00 pm Saturday, Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on the 16000 block of W. Gale Ave. in Huron. A homeowner reported that when he lit a fire in his fireplace, he heard a man yell from inside the chimney. At this same time, the house began to fill with smoke. The homeowner worked to put the fire out as dispatchers sent firefighters with Cal Fire – Fresno County to the home. Approximately ten minutes after the initial call, the suspect appeared to still be breathing and moving inside the chimney. A short time later, firefighters dismantled the chimney in an attempt to rescue the suspect, however, it was discovered that he was dead.
